    Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Training

Survive and Thrive is a program developed by Morgan to be fun, helpful, and real. We talk about anything and everything. We aim to be the opposite of boring and lonely. Our main goals are to have a blast and learn how to love life.

Do you like to play, laugh, and have fun? Do you wish to spend your time with people who are interested in having more than superficial conversations? Do you value people you can trust, whom you have confidence in and can share bonds of recognition?

If you spend time searching for your motivation, wishing school were easier, being annoyed at the annoying stuff, stressed at the stressful stuff, or wondering where the exciting ideas and people are, then Survive and Thrive is for you!

Make no mistake, you will be challenged. Maybe showing up will be hard. Maybe being vulnerable will be uncomfortable. Maybe dealing with the other guys will be annoying. But this is reality and everything we do is here intended to give you the tools to figure these situations out. How will you ever get good at solving the difficult puzzles in life without safely experimenting with solutions to what you are facing now?

Together we build the trust to safely delve into the murky depths, ask the wild questions that are often ignored and explore the uncomfortable territory that comes with being a teenager.

Survive and Thrive is designed to help one:

    • Experience what it’s like to be motivated.
    • Feel accepted. Understood. Seen.
    • Make clear and confident decisions.
    • Learn what it’s like to be assertive and decisive.
    • Experience being part of an awesome team where you feel understood and appreciated rather than isolated, lonely or lost.
    • Cultivate the notion and practice of seeing one’s “deficiencies” as assets.

Survive and Thrive will continue to be led by Ian Abraham and Morgan. Ian combines his great instincts and experience with young people, a vast knowledge of the natural world, and deep caring for the health and well being of our young people!  It’s an absolute gift for us all to have him along for the journey!

    About Mosaique

What we do is play anything we think would be fun. There is too much good music in the world to not try it all out.

That means that we play a lot of standards out of the ‘Great American Songbook’ by Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers &Hammerstein, and the many other famous composers of that era. But wait there is more.

There are the current interpreters of these songs and others that give it all a new twist, so we leverage arrangements from Jamie Collum, Diana Krall, and the like. And of course these folks have their own songs which we also play. But wait there is more.

Rock and Roll and pop music can be a lot of fun. The Beatles, Bonnie Raitt, Sting, Paul Simon, Chicago, James Taylor, all wrote some pretty wonderful stuff. We play that too. But wait there’s more.

There is a whole lot of ‘alt’ music out there waiting to be heard. Over the Rhine, songs in other languages (mostly French), just stuff we find and go, hmmm. And there is more.

The world of Jazz and the related worlds of Blues and R&B have a ton of stuff going on. We go there. Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Ray Charles, Mose Allison, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan. If we feel like playing instrumental music, that just opens up an endless sea of compositions to let us stretch out.

And there is still more we haven’t touched yet. We are always learning new songs because, well, we don’t want to bore ourselves. Lately we have been looking over some Holly Cole, Sarah Bareilles, Madelene Peyroux. Maybe it doesn’t always work but we explore. Because there is always more.

So, yeah, Mosaique is a piano trio with vocals. In particular: Vocals Thea Enos

    Piano     Frank DiGiovanni

Bass         Craig Snazelle Drums Larry Bard

I don’t think that really gets it. There is, well, more.

Join us every First Friday in the Village with True North! True North is a fun, music loving, unique jazz sextet based in Portland. Featured vocalist Dan Murphy brings it with his very own takes on favorite jazz and swing standards.  Plus, members Kathy James, Steve Morgan and Brad McMillan take pride in writing melodic, versatile, all-original compositions that widely appeal to the crowd.  Add to that, the creative energy and talent brought by Eric Austin on sax, and Steve Turmell on drums, this is a group you won't want to miss.  They originally formed as the Kathy James Quintet in 2010 and concentrated on developing her strong original compositions. That same year, the band obtained a monthly residency at the popular O'Connor's Vault in Multnomah Village.  There it began, the steady word-of-mouth growth of their lively fan base. When the group was joined by Steve Morgan and Brad McMillan who added their own styles of original music to the repertoire, the band updated its name to "True North" and has been a force ever since, according to the loyal fans who consistently show enthusiastic and much appreciated support. True North performs at local jazz venues, regionally, at various fairs and festivals, and looks forward to a successful year of gigs, writing new music and recording. You are invited to join the fun!!!  We couldn't do it without you and your support of live music and the venues that make it possible.  http://www.truenorthjazzband.com/

Lane Norberg is a singer-songwriter from Bozeman, MT. He grew up learning to play piano and drums, but didn't begin playing the guitar until college. During these years, Norberg began to write and record his own music, often in his apartment bedroom. His songs are driven by faith, love, and all of life’s up’s and down’s. Lyrics are thoughtful, and often involve details from his own life. In his own words: “I believe that music is a unique way to express the kinds of things we all go through every day. I want my music to be relatable to people, because I think you can really communicate an idea through song if your lyrics are believable and authentic.” Musically, the songs are very approachable and easy to listen to, and the style is beautifully simplistic. Lane spent the summer recording his first record at Basecamp Recording Studio in Bozeman, MT with producer Chris Cunningham.
His first EP - "Under the Trees", is now available on every music platform.

No cover charge.  Tipping the musician is welcomed!
